Bookshelf Tag

I was nominated for a bookshelf tag by Nevillegirl at Musings From Neville’s Navel! Thanks, Nevillegirl!

Answer the following questions about books on your blog and then tag five other bloggers. You can answer the questions any way you want, whether it’s on your blog, in a video, or a combination of the two. Then remember to let whoever tagged you know when your post is up so they can read it.

Now, the questions!

1. Is there a book that you really want to read but haven’t because you know that it’ll make you cry?

Suzanne Collins’ Gregor the Overlander series. I’ve heard they’re really good but sad.

2. Pick one book that helped introduce you to a new genre.

C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia introduced me to fantasy, and to my everlasting love-fantasy is my absolute favourite genre!

3. Find a book that you want to reread.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I loved it, but I can barely remember anything.

4. Is there a book series you read but wish that you hadn’t?

5. If your house was burning down and all of your family and pets were safe, which book would you go back inside to save?

The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. I love that book with a passion, and it’s the prettiest book I own!

6. Is there one book on your bookshelf that brings back fond memories?

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It’s the first book of hers I read, and I loved the movie even before I read the book, and then I loved the book.

7. Find a book that has inspired you the most.

Gail Carson Levine’s Ella Enchanted probably inspired me to write the most.

8. Do you have any autographed books?

Sadly, no. Sigh…

9. Find the book that you have owned the longest.

Probably Catundra or one of Doctor Seuss’ books.

10. Is there a book by an author that you never imagined you would read or enjoy?

I’m sorry, I have no idea! Oops…

Doctor Who Season 8, Episode 1 Premiers Today

Ahh, I’m so, so excited! I won’t be able to watch it and I’ll have to be careful around spoilers, but wow! I’m also super excited for Twelve. I think he’ll be better than the last few doctors, and even though I don’t like Clara too well, I’ll be glad to see her and the [spoiler] new companion! [end spoiler]

Happy watching, everyone!

Top Ten Favourite Movies, Part Two

Hello again! I’m here to finish up my favourite movies posts, with another five to recommend to you. Without further ado, here they are!

Dun. Dun. Dunnn!

Dun. Dun. Dunnn!

Journey to the Center of the Earth

I really liked this movie! The cool biology and interesting creatures and settings, not to mention the believable and intriguing characters, really sold me on this movie. But really, the deep-earth animals and settings. That jewel scene was the best.

Calcifer, looking slightly sad, slightly bored.

Howl’s Moving Castle

I actually prefer the book, but the movie is amazing in it’s own way. Calcifer if my favourite, followed by Sophie. She makes a perfect old woman, I must say.

I love her dress, wow.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

It’s been a while since I’ve seen this movie, but I really liked it.

Toothless glowing blue is my favourite thing.

How To Train Your Dragon 2

While I loved the first one, for once the sequel was as good or better, in my opinion! Sitting in the theater watching it for the first time and listening to the opening music, it felt like home almost. The books and movies are very dear to my heart.

Ahh, Leia. I love her.

Star Wars IV: A New Hope

A classic, and one of my favourites! The music, the characters, the banter, the setting, this movie is absolutely fabulous.

Well, I’m finally finished with my top ten posts. I hope you enjoyed it!

Top Ten Favourite Movies, Part 1

Hello! Today I’m doing a post on my top ten favourite movies. I’m doing five today and five tomorrow, complete with descriptions on why I love them!

In no particular order, here they are!

The Princess Bride

Cheesy as this movie might be, it’s one of my all-time favourites. My family quotes it constantly, we watch it every year, and we burst out laughing. We can even practically quote every line in the movie! I’ve loved this movie for a long time.

The dream world...

The dream world…

Oh, Gallifrey, I absolutely loved this movie. I just watched it recently, with my sister, who is also a fan of the movie. Gorgeous music, edge-of-your-seat pacing, fascinating concept that’s carried out well, this movie has it all. A++, I do recommend it.

Natasha, Clint, and Steve.

The Avengers

Another great movie! I’ve watched it repeatedly and loved it every time. Especially due to the abundance of Black Widow.

Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

I liked this movie almost more than the first one. It was very dark and fast-paced, and very emotional. You could almost feel the scenes, like you were the characters. I loved it.

Lizzy in a swing.

Pride and Prejudice

A classic among my mom, sister, and I. My brother and dad don’t care for it so much, but I really like it. One of my ‘feel-good’ movies to watch with the family.

The next five will be here tomorrow. Enjoy!

Prince Arthur, looking annoyed as usual.

This post contains spoilers for Merlin seasons 1-3!

Hello there! Today I thought I’d do a post on Merlin, a BBC TV show based on Arthurian legend. I’m currently about 3/4 of the way through Season 3.

While Merlin can get a little repetitive, I really enjoy it. It’s one of my favourite shows, and I’m sad that I’m more than halfway through already.

So far my favourite characters are the Lady Morgana, and Morgause, her half-sister. I can’t decide whether I like Morgana as an evil or good character better, though I think she has much more potential as an evil one than a good one. Though she isn’t very good at killing people. She’s almost stabbed Uther twice, almost gotten Arthur to give up his rights to the throne, almost sapped Arthur’s life force, etc. But she hasn’t killed anyone yet!

The Lady Morgana, being awesome.

The Lady Morgana, being awesome.

As for Morgause, just the fact that she’s a lady knight who beat Prince Arthur in a battle endears her to me.

Morgause, beating up Arthur.

Gaius is pretty great, as well, and Arthur and Merlin’s banter makes me laugh, every time. I’m not such a big fan of Gwen, definitely not Uther, and Nimueh was just okay, in my opinion. I did really like Freya though!

So far, I think Season 3 has been my favourite. My favourite episode is the Season 2 episode where Morgause is first introduced, “The Sins of the Father.” That or the first two Season 3 episodes, “The Tears of Uther Pendragon” parts 1 and 2.

Well, that’s all I have time for today. Goodbye!

The Sunshine Award

Hello! I was nominated for the Sunshine Award by Nevillegirl.

I’ll start out with five facts about me!

1. I have a whole spectrum of favourite colours-everything from scarlet to midnight blue to emerald green to grey.

2. I do not, however, like just about any pink or orange colours, especially pastel pink.

3. One of my favourite quotes is

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” -Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

4. The last thing I ate was an apple.

5. I am currently suffering from allergies/a cold.

Here are the questions I’m answering-

What book will you read next?

Probably Pretties by Scott Westerfield. I recently finished Uglies, and am excited to read the sequel! Hopefully I can get to the library soon.

Do your parents, siblings, or any other relatives read your blog? What do they think of it?

I keep forgetting to give my dad my blog URL; I better do that soon. I have no idea what he’ll think of it.

What is the funniest thing you’ve seen or heard recently?

…I’m sorry, I really have no idea. Oops!

If you could choose, right now, to be either ten years younger or ten years older than you currently are, which option would you pick?

Probably ten years older. I’d be 22, probably through with college(hopefully with all the information stored in my brain, but none of the work), and maybe even with a novel or two published!

What is your quest?

To acquire inspiration and change the world through my writing.

My questions:

1. What is your absolute favourite short story?

2. Look to your left. What is your favourite object to the left, and is there a story behind it?

3. What’s your IQ? (if you know)

4. Favourite poem?

5. ‘If’ you had a time machine, what would it look like and what would you call it?
