Top Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want To Visit

Hello there, all! Today I’m linking up with The Broke and The Bookish for their Top Ten Tuesday! This week’s prompt is,

Top Ten Places Books Have Made Me Want To Visit

I’m really excited about this prompt, because books! And book’s settings, which is almost as good. So, without further ado, here is my list!

1. Narnia

…Seriously, who wouldn’t want to go to Narnia? Talking animals, living trees, beautiful enchanted places. I’d also love to go back to the beginning of Narnia, where if you threw a lamppost into the ground, it would grow a baby lamppost, and toffees make a toffee tree, and the air is buzzing with magic.

2. Middle Earth

Another classic bookish destination. Especially since I love the elves, I’d want to go to Rivendell, but most of all I’d love to visit Lothlorien.

3. Tronjheim

Here we’ve got a place from the Inheritance series. Not my favourite books, but the scenery was amazing, especially Tronjheim, the home of the dwarves, and Ellesmera, the elves’ capital city.

4. India

This one mostly comes from the book The Savage Fortress by Sarwat Chadda, which not only educated me on Indian mythology but inspired me to go there.

5. Hogwarts

A familiar name to just about everyone, the wizarding school would be ideal to go to, though I’m quite partial to Hogsmeade, too.

6. Ember

From a not-too-well-known series, beginning with The City of Ember. Ember is a city powered by electricity, deep underground.

7. Russia

I’ve always wanted to go to Russia, but even more so after reading The Wolf Princess. Gorgeous, snowy winter days!

8. Space

Especially the Pleiades and the Crab Nebula.

9. The School For Good and Evil

Though admittedly both schools sound somewhat repulsive, it would be fun to visit there at least.

10. Redwall

The place just sounds so nice and cosy, even if it is inhabited solely by mice, voles, etc.

Enjoy, and feel free to link up yourself!

Top Ten Characters Who Would Have Sat At My Lunch Table

Hello, there! Today I’m linking up with The Broke and the Bookish for their Top Ten Tuesday. Since I couldn’t think of anything for this week’s prompt, I’m going to do last week’s instead. I know, I’m a cheater.

The prompt is-

Top Ten Characters Who Would Have Sat At My Lunch Table In High School

Let us start out by saying that, as a homeschooler who is still in middle school, I’ve never had a lunch table other than my own dining room table, and the people who sat there were generally my parents or siblings. That aside, let’s begin!

1. Ella from Ella Enchanted

She’s funny, quirky, and bold, and she’s pretty cool! I think we would be fairly good friends and it would be very fun to have her around to lighten things up.

2. Ash from Ash

Ash is quiet and fairly serious, but still interesting and fun. I’d love to get to know her better.

3. Kaisa from Ash

Once again from the book Ash, Kaisa is cool and sporty and basically the opposite of what I am, but still really cool.

4. Kaede from Huntress

Kaede is funny and determined and basically awesome. I could totally see her and Ella getting along really well, and it’d be great to have her around.

5. Edmund Pevensie from Chronicles of Narnia

Can I cheat and say I want two from this universe? Edmund and Lucy are my favourites from this series(actually, nevermind, Aravis and Shasta too.)

6. Pippin from the Lord of the Rings

Pippin is funny and bold and tends to get ignored a lot and is an all around a great character.

7. Lizzy from Pride and Prejudice

She’s my favourite character and bold and determined to go her own way. Not only would she get along with Ella and Kaede really well, I could see her keeping peace.

8. Silverstream from Warriors

Yes, she’s a cat. Shhh. Cats are the best, and she was always my favourite. I could get a lot of petting done that way.

9. Shay from Uglies

She’s cool and fun and brave and she takes initiative when no one else does. Not to mention she’s hilarious.

10. Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles

She’s smart and funny and strong and cool and basically who wouldn’t want to have her around?

That’s all for today! Have a good night/day/morning!

Bookshelf Tag

I was nominated for a bookshelf tag by Nevillegirl at Musings From Neville’s Navel! Thanks, Nevillegirl!

                                                                               Rules

Answer the following questions about books on your blog and then tag five other bloggers. You can answer the questions any way you want, whether it’s on your blog, in a video, or a combination of the two. Then remember to let whoever tagged you know when your post is up so they can read it.

Now, the questions!

1. Is there a book that you really want to read but haven’t because you know that it’ll make you cry?

Suzanne Collins’ Gregor the Overlander series. I’ve heard they’re really good but sad.

2. Pick one book that helped introduce you to a new genre.

C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia introduced me to fantasy, and to my everlasting love-fantasy is my absolute favourite genre!

3. Find a book that you want to reread.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. I loved it, but I can barely remember anything.

4. Is there a book series you read but wish that you hadn’t?

5. If your house was burning down and all of your family and pets were safe, which book would you go back inside to save?

The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. I love that book with a passion, and it’s the prettiest book I own!

6. Is there one book on your bookshelf that brings back fond memories?

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It’s the first book of hers I read, and I loved the movie even before I read the book, and then I loved the book.

7. Find a book that has inspired you the most.

Gail Carson Levine’s Ella Enchanted probably inspired me to write the most.

8. Do you have any autographed books?

Sadly, no. Sigh…

9. Find the book that you have owned the longest.

Probably Catundra or one of Doctor Seuss’ books.

10. Is there a book by an author that you never imagined you would read or enjoy?

I’m sorry, I have no idea! Oops…

Greetings, friends!

Hello, there! My name is Holly, and this is my first blog. It seemed apropriate to make an introductory post, so here you are. On this blog, I plan to blog personal, fandom, and arty posts.

I’m a nerd, and I’ll admit it freely. Expect posts about all my fandoms. They range from Doctor Who (6 days until season 8!), Sherlock (several…years until season 4), Merlin, Psych, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and Avatar: The Last Airbender to The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Lunar Chronicles, Ash and Huntress, How To Train Your Dragon, and many, many more.

I’m a writer, and I’ll admit it even more freely than my being a nerd. I have written many short stories, and currently have finished one novel and am editing it while planning another novel. I participated in YWP NaNoWriMo 2013, and met my wordcount of 30,000 words (though my book expanded, and it ended up being 80,000). Expect posts on writing, fun facts, NaNoWriMo, and more!

I hope that everyone who follows this blog gets exactly what they wanted out of it! Greetings, friends, I look forward to entertaining you.
